Just bought a bunch of great stuff for the reception: place cards, cake topper, toasting flutes, cake cutting set, guest book, pen, and garter. Really excited about all of them, and the future hubby even had input for certain things I could not decide.

I’m amazed with how it is all coming together. I’m just waiting on one last piece of stationary about directions to the church and then we can send out invitations (which is planned to happen in 2 weeks). I feel as if there is so much to do but really I’m ahead of the game which is a great feeling!

Next: schedule our three meetings with my pastor, get my soloist and pianist together, and attend my Jack and Jill.

I’m liking this!

Planning Is Officially in Full Swing!

Over this working April Vacation I have completed my final assignment of my undergraduate education! Now, though I still have to student teach for 7 more days I can rest easy while I’m home in the afternoon!

This means wedding planning can be in full swing! I picked out table cloths the settings over vacation, and we got our wedding bands last weekend! Now, all the little stuff:

drop off color swatch to florist
order cake topper
pick out table setting cards
pick out toasting flutes
pick out garter (tehe)
pick out guest book/alternative
mail invitations
put items on registry
figure out seating chart
sit down with pastor
finalize songs with pianist and soloist
attend my Jack and Jill
get my dress fitted
make church decorations
attend rehearsal and dinner
get marriage licence
decide if we want our rings engraved

…I think that’s it.

SO EXCITED!

I just read this article 20 Things A Bride Always Forgets on the Wedding Channel website. The only thing I really hadn’t though of was this one:

Pack your cell phone charger. You’ll probably get a bunch of calls on your wedding day from frazzled guests and anxious family members who need fast answers. Make sure your phone is fully charged — and then put someone else in charge of answering it.

It makes a lot of sense though. And I think I have a pretty good idea of who I’m going to ask :-)

I already posted the ring on the right telling you all about how I’d fallen in love. Well I looked back and now I can’t decide between these two! Just gonna have to go to Zales to figure it out.

The surprising thing…these bands are less expensive than the gold bands with no diamonds. Which is suppose in a way makes sense…it’s less gold…but I still feel diamonds are diamonds.

The only thing that worries me is that my engagement ring is 18k white gold and these bands are 14k. I have heard about different karats wearing on each other…It will be a question to ask when we actually go shopping!

I hope it’s soooooon!

Marriage License

Just did some research about what it needed for our marriage license.

My future hubby will be happy to know that we actually don’t need a blood test! I have read in planning books and online articles, and heard from relatives about how you need a blood test to get a marriage license. What the blood test checks for is syphilis (which seems extremely irrelevant now a-days). However, upon looking up the state laws to seen what we needed, and when we needed, to apply I found out blood tests are no longer needed.

The law seemed to have been changed in 2005. Apparently there are still a few states that require a blood test but not the one we live in. Which I find to be super exciting; not that I don’t like giving blood (it doesn’t bother me) but that its one less thing we have to do. Just have to both go to the town clerk a month or so before the wedding and chalk up anywhere between 4 and 60 dollars…you would think they could be more specific. :)

Vows

For some reason I never knew the vows you say to each other are different from what you say while giving each other our rings. Even though I’ve watched countless wedding shows, it just never registered until I went to my future hubby’s cousin’s wedding last night (which was beautiful by the way). So I started looking up vows; we have decided not to write our own, but still there are different versions. I don’t know why, but this version of exchanging rings made me cry: “I give you this ring as a symbol of my love; and with all that I am and all that I have, I honor you, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” I think its the with all that I have/am part, its just so beautiful.
Just needed to post that.

Our honeymoon suite at Meadowmere Resort in Ogunquit, ME.

We will be staying here the Friday-Sunday after our wedding. We will then head up to Acadia Nation Park for Sunday-Saturday where we will be camping.

Yes, it’s not the “traditional” honeymoon. However, just as a believe the focus should not be on the wedding but the marriage, I also believe the focus should be on the marriage not the honeymoon. This time will be spent enjoying each other’s company and just being together, looking forward to our many more years together.

The big trip can come for our one year, or even 5 year, anniversary. Our money went towards getting a house and we have no regrets with that.

We are just over joyed to be able to go somewhere and be together! :D

DIY Handwritten Plates

For this project, you will need:
-Porcelaine paint fine tip marker (can be found at most craft stores)
-painters’ tape
-white charger plate
-wedding vows or first dance song lyrics

Instructions:
1. Lay a strip of painters tape near the top of your charger plate to make a straight line for penning your vows.

2. Press firmly on the tape to make sure it’s securely in place.

3. With your porcelain paint marker begin to pen the first line of vows onto your charger plate. If you make a mistake you can wipe with a damp cloth or scrape off with your fingernail. Just be sure to do it right away!

4. Move the tape down the plate to keep your lines straight and continue penning your vows until you reach the bottom of your plate.

5. To ensure your charger plate is dishwasher safe let it sit for 24 hours and then bake it according to the directions on the marker packaging.
